Summer Letter from the Kitchen Table

There's a funny thing about summer.

All year long, we count down the days until school is out. No alarms. No lunches to pack. No permission slips hiding at the bottom of backpacks.

Then it arrives.

Suddenly someone is hungry every 17 minutes, the house is somehow dirtier than it was during the school year, and you've answered, "Can we go swimming?" at least 43 times before lunch.

Welcome to summer in Arizona.

When it's 104 degrees before breakfast, adventures look a little different. We become experts at finding shade, timing park trips before the playground turns into a frying pan, and calculating exactly how many towels fit in the car before heading to the pool. Some days are packed with library trips, splash pads, baking projects, and backyard scavenger hunts.

Other days? Survival mode.

Frozen waffles for lunch? Sure.

Movie marathon because it's too hot to think? Absolutely.

Popsicles count as hydration, right?

Somewhere between the fourth snack request and the millionth "I'm bored," I've realized kids don't actually care if summer is perfectly planned. Give them cookie dough, a cardboard box, or permission to make an absolute disaster in the kitchen, and suddenly you've created a core memory.

Every season looks a little different around here. Summer isn't the season when Farm & Found makes the most products—it's the season when it gathers the most stories. It's where recipes are tested by tiny taste-testers, projects are interrupted by sprinkler runs, and ideas get scribbled onto napkins while someone's asking for a fourth snack before 10 a.m. The business doesn't stop. It simply grows a little differently – you start seeing opportunities everywhere. That old flannel isn't headed to the donation pile anymore—it's becoming a market tote. Dad's worn-out sweatshirt gets a second life as a keepsake pillow. The basil that's threatening to take over the garden becomes dinner, and a warm loaf of sourdough somehow convinces everyone that Tuesday wasn't so bad after all.

Funny enough, that's also how Farm & Found was born—seeing everyday things not for what they are, but for what they could become.

Maybe that's the real summer magic. Not cramming every minute with activities, but realizing some of the best days come from making something out of what you already have.

So, here's to the sunscreen stains, the wet towels draped over every chair, the endless snack requests, and the memories we're making somewhere between the chaos.

School will start soon enough.

For now, we'll embrace the beautiful mess. Around here, that's usually where the best ideas begin.
